Use Your Brain To Shine... Not To Scam
Today, I came across an email stating that I received a refund from Income Tax Department. On first look, I had a nervous smile on my face and my eyes got widened like the one shown in the above cartoon drawn by my daughter.
First of all, for me to get fooled, I am not an employee at present. Then also, for a moment, I thought the email was real and may be I was getting refund for some jobs I have done long time back. After checking with my uncle, it is confirmed that the said email is a fraud one.

Fraud email I received some days back, which I tried to open today |
From this experience, I recollected that I used to receive so many messages in my Facebook account saying that someone hacked their account and therefore do not respond to anyone asking for money on their name.
Also, long time back, I used to receive phone calls from strangers saying that I received a lucky draw and won some amount of money. I never used to answer positively for such calls and they stopped after some time. Even today, I receive calls with flash on screen that it is from suspected fraud. Of course, I never receive them.
Another online fraud which I faced was when someone called from an unknown number, especially an international call, when I picked up, they never responded, but when I got my phone bill I was stunned as I got to pay a huge amount. When I demanded the mobile company why I need to pay this much, they showed that I had international calls in my list.
Recently, when we put an "AD" for renting our house in an online housing website, we got a call from someone posing to be army personnel and asking for our account details to pay the advance money. They even sent some ID proofs through What's up. Luckily, we didn't fall prey for such an act. Afterwards, we also received a message from the website not to respond to anyone posing as army personnel.
Somewhere, I have also read of someone fallen prey to such scams; one person received a video call from an unknown number, he accidentally received it and they copied his face and made some snaps of him posing with a nude girl; later, blackmailed him by messaging that pic to him, instructing him that if he do not sent them a said amount they will post that pic online. The person complained about this in a local police station and this news became viral as news channels broadcast the issue on TV.
By now, many of them are aware of such frauds and never respond to them.
I feel, whoever these scammers are, they are fooling citizens with their scams; but we also understand that they are very intelligent and if they use their brains in a useful way, they would definitely shine. The government, on one hand are informing citizens not to fall prey for such scams, but on the other hand, should find out who they are and counsel them and train them to find legal ways of earning; let them free, and put them on surveillance without their knowledge so that they do not commit such crimes again. Then also, if they commit a crime; in such a case, they should get very severe punishment so that nobody else repeat such a thing.
What do you think???
